I get many emails every month, several times a month I am asked where a person could find a vehicle for a 44 – 48″ pony. These are what I call “in-betweeners”.

We have a special sized harness (that is custom and not kept in stock!) for this size pony as they are right between the Small Pony/Shetland harness and the Large Pony harness.

Since they need a special harness size they often don’t fit in the small pony vehicle, they are just a bit too big for them, and they don’t fit into a large pony cart, as they are too small for those ones!

I often send people to take a look at the Bellcrown vehicles as they have a few that are adjustable. Being able to adjust how long the shafts are as well as how high the seat is, is helpful when trying to fit a pony that isn’t small and isn’t large.

The next one of theirs is called The Phantom.

As for a simple easy entry cart I found these – Working Horse Tack. They are labeled as fitting “medium ponies” 42″-50″ ponies. Again, not to sound like a broken record about this – but DO NOT ask for brakes on a two wheeled vehicle. They do offer them but I would NOT suggest having them. They are not helpful. Please just use a breeching on your harness as your brake system.

Also, I would always choose the simplest cart – NO bells and whistles. All the extra add ons are just things that can loosen and rattle and cause trouble over time. Just my two cents!! You do you – always

For marathon style carriages there are a few options that I’ve found. I’m sure there are more out there but these are ones that come up time and again both when I do a Google search and when I’m talking with customers that are actively driving this size of pony.

First up is the Pony Batmobile! (Also, I just love the name!)

Another one is the Kutzman brand Micro Fox.

And last but definitely not least – The KBike/Cart! This wonderful vehicle is so adjustable it can be used with a 32″ mini up to a 46″ pony. We recommend not using it for ponies taller than 46″.
