Chimacum Tack’s newest hold back straps attach to the shafts by looping through themselves at the footman’s loop. Then clip them to your breeching ring and adjust the length using the buckle. These are very adjustable.
Sold as a set of two.
- Mini – 5/8″ wide x 13 1/2″ long (when measured from end to end)
- Pony – 3/4″ wide x 15 1/2″ long
- Horse – 1″ wide x 21″ long
If you need a particular length please indicate the length wanted from the bottom of the snap to the end of the loop in the optional order notes. Thanks.
A quick and easy way to fasten your hold back straps, no wrapping at all! Also very adjustable for different sized horses.

I would like to see results of testing. You have doubled the strain on the holdback so now the carriage depends on two thin buckle tongues to act as breaks. I don’t think there is good science behind this “innovation”.

Thank you for your feedback! We’ve been selling these for about a year and didn’t come up with the idea ourselves but it was shared with us by a customer from over seas who had seen it available in their country. I’m not aware of how long it’s been used there. We haven’t had any negative feedback about them so far but welcome everyone’s input.

Love these! I got some for my mini and it makes it much easier to hitch up without help (she can be fidgety). These are heavy-duty and I am very pleased with them.
